All About Sydney Australia
|
The following paper is meant to be a guide for all our readers, hopefully you too.
The aboriginals of the Daruk, Eora and Guringai tribes began in Sydney Australia as long as 40,000 years ago have left their mark on this popular Australian city; the name of a city suburb, petroglyphs and rock carvings, paintings or seafood shell piles all show evidence of early civilizations. Europeans sailed over in 1788, arriving with England's First Fleet, which was a ship full of prisoners. Originally designated as a penal colony, Australia's fortune changed when gold was discovered. It attracted settlers from all around the world who arrived, settled and set up an official government.
When you come to Sydney Australia, you'll obviously want to get the most optimal view of the towering buildings, the world-famous Harbour Bridge and the architecturally intriguing Opera House. At Circular Quay, you can travel thirty minutes from the Sydney Harbour to Manly via ferry, where you'll get the best view of these landmarks. When you arrive in Manly, you may want to eat some delicious grub at the brand new Manly Wharf Pub. A more traditional, narrated tour is the Sydney Harbour Cruise, which can tell you a little bit about waterfront mansions, Australian history and the city's multitudinous cultural offerings.
You'll get the same view as the ferry, but you'll have a longer ride and more commentary. "Coffee cruises" have become very popular, offering fresh espresso, teas, gourmet biscuits, muffins and Lamingtons, which is an Aussie favorite. Or you can go on the half-day Sydney Harbour sail aboard "Katrina," a luxury yacht, which will take you to hideaway beaches and bays. The Sydney Harbour Bridge Cruise will quickly take you beneath the bridge and narrate a little about this landmark, specifically. You'll stop in the Darling Harbour, where theatres, aquariums and museums await.
For all you land-lubbers, there's a nice walk from the Manly Ferry Terminal to Shelly Beach. You'll pass pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants, although, the particularly keen may even spot a Manly penguin or breaching Humpback Whale! You can take a tour of Manly Beach or get a terrific view of the Sydney Harbour from the North Fort lookout. With the city, the AMP Centrepoint Tower, a 1,000-foot-high Australian national monument, will give you a bird's eye view of Sydney's cityscape.
Attention wildlife-lovers! Don't miss Sydney Harbour National Park! As you traipse along the "harbour walks" island trails of Australia, keep your eye out for a wombat den full of babies, a sea eagle swooping down for a fish, a red-tailed tropic bird somersaulting to attract a mate, a people-loving pygmy possum, a platypus swimming along a stream, a humpback whale breaching or a dolphin leaping acrobatics through the air. Kosciuszko National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is another "must-see" if you're looking for that special animal encounter in Sydney Australia.
You won't want to miss the 2,600 animals at the city's Taronga Zoo, which houses animals of Australia, such as koalas, platypus, parrots, bush birds, emus, wallabies, kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles, dingoes, lorikeets and honeyeaters. For the flora and fauna of Australia, be sure to stop by the business district's Chinese Garden of Friendship, Hyde Park, The Domain and the Royal Botanical Gardens.
What really "makes a city" is the way that the different diasporas come together to create a sense of local culture and how the identity of the Australian people is celebrated. In Sydney Australia, the majority of citizens hail from England, but there are also tens of thousands from mainland China, New Zealand, Vietnam, Lebanon, India, the Philippines, Italy, Hong Kong, South Korea, Greece, South Africa, Fiji, Malaysia and Iraq! As you can see, the local residents, also dubbed "Sydneysiders," are quite a disparate bunch! Drawn by economic prosperity, an accepting attitude and warm climate, Sydney's immigrants opened shops, restaurants and museums to highlight their various cultures.
As I have said before thanks for reading this article. I hope it was useful.
